For most of us, coming home often marks the best part of the day; hemma Yoga and Acupuncture is premised upon the idea of home – a place to kick off your shoes, rest with a cup of tea and a cookie, enjoy solitude or chat with friends. We provide change rooms, places to hang your belongings, and cubbyholes in the studio for valuables. If you require a mat we are happy to rent you one. All props are provided and cleaned regularly.
If the door to the yoga studio is closed, there is likely a class still in session (and probably Savasana), so please keep conversation in the hall to a minimum. Once inside, speak in a low voice allowing others a quiet space before class. Please clear the studio in good time to allow the next class to get set up. The lobby at hemma is intended for those who like to linger, so please bring conversations there after practice.
We want all students to both make themselves at home and treat hemma like a home so we do request some very light housekeeping: neatly stow any props used during class, return rented mats for cleaning and gather all belongings. If attending a vigorous class and you are someone who tends to sweat, please bring a small towel to clean the floor around you after practice. Any items left behind will find their way to our lost and found. Items still languishing there at the end of each month will be donated to charity.
If you are new to either hemma or yoga, please introduce yourself to us and feel free to ask any questions you may have. Whether a new or returning student, please inform your instructor of any injuries or concerns you may have before practice so they can offer assistance and guidance.
