I hope this finds you all well. I have been busy completing renovations with my new partners Malcom and Melanie. I have really been enjoying the collaboration and leaning into each of our unique gifts and strengths.
The past week we have been painting, hanging doors, and collecting recliner chairs – yes we will have a whole new batch for you to try out! Who knew that they could make a recliner even more comfy – yes they have improved a bit since 2007. The new neighbourhood is truly a wonder space to land in. Haultain village reminds me of so many of the cute little villages that once existed throughout Victoria. Each day as I have worked in the new space I have been greeted by shop-keepers and residents excited for our opening. I’m looking forward to welcoming you all back to our cozy clinic starting next week!
Starting in September our sliding scale will be $25-45. The last time we changed it was about 2010. We were planning to increase our fees back before the pandemic hit but decided to hold off given that so many of us were financially impacted. For 15 years the sliding scale has been a pillar of our business model. Making acupuncture accessible to as many folks as possible has been our mission since day one. We hope this change does not create a burden for you and thank you for all your support over these may years. A sliding scale represents the community in the best way possible – it reflects the different abilities we all have based on our circumstances. I wish the rest of our economy worked the same way – like housing, food, and transportations costs. We value and appreciate you regardless of what you pay, what’s important is that you are able to access the care you need at the frequency you need. And if your circumstances allow you to pay on the higher end then keep in mind that you are contributing to your community and neighbours by paying it forward!
In gratitude,
Michael
