“I always tell people live happily and die majestically.” ~ BKS Iyengar

  • by

BKS Iyengar is considered one of the most influential Yoga teachers in the world. He dedicated decades to practicing, understanding, and teaching Yoga to millions of people around the globe. At 95 years old, he left his body last week. This is a time of sadness, and also a time to honour and celebrate his life. When a yogic master leaves their body, their soul travels far and wide, enabling us all to connect with the wisdom they embodied.

I admire his dedication to the practice. I recently read in an article,  “He always said, ‘Don’t call it Iyengar Yoga. It doesn’t have to have my name on it. It’s just yoga.’” I feel this speaks to his authenticity in sharing the wisdom of Yoga and why his passion inspired so many people. On Thursday August 28th at 12:30pm there will be a Divine Light Invocation in honour of BKS Iyengar at Iyengar Yoga Centre of Victoria.

Deep bow,
