I recently received this announcement from Aaron’s family and wanted to pass it on to those of you who might be interested in attending:
Join us in remembering the radiant spirit that was, and continues to be, Aaron Banfield.
It was Aaron’s wish that a month after his passing, at the conclusion of the first 30 days of mourning observed in Jewish tradition, we gather together in community to celebrate, honour, and remember this remarkable human and the profound impact he had on all of our lives.
We’ve decided to hold this event in Victoria, where Aaron spent most of his adult life and built many layers of community. Jason Guille has generously offered us Sunset Labs, a place where Aaron spent many hours showing off his truly unique dance moves.
If you can’t attend in person, a virtual option will be available (details to come!).
Most importantly, we want to hear from you – his people! Whether you knew Aaron for a day, a month, or thirty years, whether you met him on the dancefloor, on his treatment table, in the yoga studio or the forest or anywhere else in his orbit, your stories, memories, jokes, songs and poems are welcome.
There will be an open mic portion, but if you know what you would like to share in advance, feel free to email aaronbanfieldmemorial@gmail.com and we’ll slot you in. Virtual attendees will also be able to share. If you have PHOTOS or VIDEOS to share for the slideshow, please also send them to the email above. Thank you for your contributions!
