Sivanada Yoga

Yogis of all levels can practice Sivananda Yoga. Its is especially recommended for those who want holistic traditional ashram inspired yoga experience and has interest in yoga philosophy.

Sivananda class begins with Chanting followed by Pranayama (breathing exercises). After warming up with salutations to the sun, the traditional 12-point variation the practiced is followed by Twelve classical yoga postures in a set prescribed order but endless variations are possible too.The goal of the practice is to promote mental, physical and spiritual well-being. The asana(posture) system is fairly fixed and it gives an opportunity to work methodically to master a form and disciple and builds self practice. The practice is designed in a way that it activates the 7 chakras and Nadis.

Savasana, the yoga posture of deep relaxation is practiced for a short time in between different posture groups to maintain the body in a state of calm and stillness throughout the practice.The class ends with longer Savasana followed by short meditation and Closing Chant.

Philosophy of Sivanada practice is

Serve, love, give, purify, meditate, realise;

Be good, do good, be kind, be compassionate;

Adapt, Adjust, Accommodate;

This is the Highest Sadhana and the Highest Yoga
